St. Arnold Janssen Our Founder

Fr. Arnold Janssen was a German diocesan priest, born at Goch, on November 5, 1837. As a young student at the University of Bonn, he distinguished himself by winning a competition through an essay on a botanical subject. His brilliance qualified him for professorship at the age of 22.

St. Joseph Freinademetz First Missionary

Joseph was born on April 15, 1852, the fourth child of Giovanmattia and Anna Maria Freinademetz. The family eked out a living on their poor and small farm as did their neighbors.

New General Superior of our Society

On July 4, 2018, the capitulars of the Society of the Divine Word (SVD) gathered at the Centro Ad Gentes in Nemi, Italy, for the 18th General Chapter, elected Fr. PAULUS BUDI KLEDEN, SVD as the 12th Superior General of the Society of the Divine Word.

First SVD Parish in Davao

For the first time, the Divine Word Missionaries (SVD) already have their parish in the Davao region. Fr. Rodrigo “Diggs” Salac, SVD was assigned as the new cura of the Sta. Cruz Parish in Talicud Island of the Island Garden City of Samal.

Pope Francis on June 22 met members of the Society of the Divine Word (SVD) participating in their General Chapter near Rome.
